Treat them as your litmus test for which system you subscribe to, implement, and use.

But we think these nine are deal breakers.
Why bother moving past these if you get more no’s than yes’s, right?
- Does the system give you the ability to Create, track, edit, and assign work orders with one-click to ensure that issues are addressed immediately.?
- Can you create a configured web form that lets non-system users such as your vendors, employees without logins, and outside users to submit work orders for approval anywhere at any time?
- Can the system provide your team with the ability to create a chain of approvals based on attributes such as work order type, priority, or location?
- Can you easily set up preventive maintenance schedules and add associated materials, labor, expense and attachments for review?
- Can you schedule and conduct regular inspections to gain a comprehensive view of asset health and identify issues proactively?
- Will the system alert you and your staff when material or inventory is low automatically through our system?
- Will the system let you generate one-click reports and charts? Does it allow you to see the info the way you need?
- Will the system let you track critical information related to your assets in one place?
- Does the provider offer implementation, training, and continued support?
A SIMPLE CMMS SELECTION PROCESS

1. Gather a CMMS selection team
We recommend you enlist the help of people already familiar with maintenance operations, ideally your current maintenance team.

You’ll know the non-negotiable features, the ones you can pass on, and the functions you can add on if the price is right.
3. Compare vendors, purposefully

- What’s their history and qualifications?

4. Request a consultative demonstration of their system

If they’re exceptional, you’ll know this before the curtain falls.

5. Pull the trigger
Review the victors.
Weigh out the cost and benefits of each.
Whose solution answered ‘yes’ to the most questions?
Better yet, who answered all the questions with “yes?”
Pay attention to the results and make an objective decision.
The decision process is straightforward.
But the decision isn’t.
